Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall Activities

As much as we all love summer, I can't lie I embrace fall with open arms. Summer is hectic, the kids are off school wedding season is in full swing, all the while I'm grasping for every weekend at the lake I can squeeze in. Fall brings with it a calmness, by the first day of fall we're back in our "real life" routines, and the weather is perfect.
It's time to turn off the A/C and open the windows, enjoy a cool breeze and watch the leaves change before they fall. You can go to the kids' baseball, football, and soccer games without sweating up a storm, and you start craving all kinds of delicious warm beverages.

I'm a big fan of the cliché of dragging the family out to the apple orchard to enjoy some apple picking on a sunny fall day, bonus points if the orchard serves hot cider. When you get home you can make up a batch of your own, and throw in some other apple goodies (muffins, pies, candy apples) as well, if you make too much you can always vacuum seal the leftovers.

I know for many, fall means they can finally get back in the woods and the fields and get hunting again. Just like with the apple orchard, a day of hunting can feed the family and stock your kitchen.

Fall is finally here, enjoy the weather and the time outside with family and friends before it ices over into winter. Stock your kitchen with meats from your last hunt, or apple and pumpkin goodies.
